A new humane education program is offering kids a chance to be compassionate animals, and learn about the role of humans in their lives.
The program is called Spcala, and it’s open to anyone with a child under 18.
The group says it’s part of a national initiative to give young people a chance at a better life.
The new program was announced Monday by the Ministry of Education.
It’s the brainchild of a Toronto-based animal activist, Lisa Mancini, who’s also a member of a group called Humane Animal Education Canada.
The mission is to “make the world a better place for animals by educating and training people to live better lives, by helping animals to be good stewards of their lives and by improving the way animals are treated.”
It’s all part of the mission of Humane Animal Educators, which started two years ago.
Mancati says it all started with the need to make sure our kids got the information they needed about humane animal care, and that’s what she and her colleagues at Humane Animal Educational Canada have been working on.
“When we started, the answer was there’s a lot of misinformation out there.
We thought, we need to start making a difference,” said Mancinini, whose husband is an animal advocate.
“So we’ve been working to educate young people and their parents and their peers, because there are a lot more misconceptions out there, a lot fewer examples of really good animal-welfare practices, and a lot less understanding about how animals are cared for.”
Mancina says that can be frustrating, because some parents may not even know what they’re supposed to be doing when their kids go to a park.
Mucsara, the 6-year-old, says he’s been told to go to the pond and then he needs to be in the backyard.
“I can’t see why that’s so important to him,” Mancino said.
“He’s already got his friends and he’s got a bunch of other animals.
He can go to any place he wants to go, he doesn’t need me to be there.”
Mucsy says he doesn´t think there’s anything wrong with that, but he does think the situation needs to change.
“People get excited, they think it’s going to make them do something.
I don’t want that.
I want him to know that he can do it his own way, with his own power and with his choice,” Mucsi said.
A group of people working together to teach kids how to be more humane The Humane Animal School, which is in partnership with the Canadian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, has been in the making for several years.
Its first school opened in the spring of 2018.
“It was just kind of a pilot, so we were able to get a little bit of momentum going and to make it a reality,” said Anne Manci, who is co-founder of the school.
The school is teaching kids how they can care for animals in a humane way, and to educate parents about the importance of animal welfare, such as how to take care of their pets and the importance to provide a safe and comfortable environment for your pets.
Anne says she believes the program will be a good start for young people who might not be familiar with how to care for their animals, but that there are many good alternatives out there if they want to learn more about the humane care process.
“We have a huge number of resources available for people to look into,” she said.
MUCSARA says it wants to teach young people about the animal kingdom.
“There are so many animals that are living very, very differently than we do.
They are intelligent animals, they are social animals, even the species that we care for as pets, like dogs and cats, they have to be social, they can’t be solitary, and they have their own needs.
And they have a lot in common with humans, too.”
Students also have to learn how to make decisions about how to treat animals.
The first class for students to take the program is one that teaches about animal care and what they can and can’t do, and then they’re taught how to put that together in a way that’s humane, said Mucsen.
Mccini says it can be difficult to learn what to do when a human is nearby, but she says there are ways to learn from them.
“If you are at a park, or if you’re out in nature, or you’re doing a lot with your pets, then you can look at a human and you can see what you can do to improve their experience,” she added.
MANCINI says it will take time for everyone to get used to the program.
“The thing that is really difficult for people is the fact that you can’t really teach someone how to look at something
