about the human rights situation in Israel?
article Posted by New York City Times on January 10, 2018 03:18:53The article, titled “What’s the Point of an Article About the Human Rights Situation in Israel?” has been posted to the Times’ website.
The article reads:The article’s title is a reference to the Palestinian Authority’s recent announcement that it would begin to implement a law in response to the international boycott of the Palestinian territories, which Israel is legally bound to uphold, and that will prohibit any business or organization from doing business with the PA.
The legislation would prevent all goods from entering the Palestinian territory from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2019.
The new law is not yet law.
The Palestinian Authority is a political entity that has ruled for over 40 years.
The article goes on to note that the law “would be in violation of international law, including international human rights law, which states that all countries must respect human rights.
The law is also a violation of Israel’s obligations under international law.”
According to the article, the “Jewish state’s law” will require “any individual or entity to give up all rights guaranteed to Palestinian people under international humanitarian law.”
The article then goes on, noting that the Jewish state has also “taken measures in the past to pressure the PA and other Arab states into boycotting Israel.”
The Jewish state, in turn, has been forced to make “other efforts to punish and punish” the PA, the article says.
